The following article presents an image of historical, aesthetical and social space of Austria from the perspective of Ricarda Huch. For Huch, a doctor of history, writer, thinker and a personality of literary life, Austria was almost a lifelong point of reference for her views as an intellectual, it also had an impact on her interpersonal contacts. The writer, who after 1933 lived in an internal emigration, in the history of Austrian statehood finds references to the possibility of expressing opposition coming from the moral responsibility of an individual and then directed against all manifestations of enslavement.

The first recognised professional writer of the German-speaking area, Doctor of History, critical observer of her times and a literature historian Ricarda Hutch was interested in the ideals of (early) German Romanticism throughout her life. This paper presents Huch’s interest in Romanticism in three stages. First, Huch’s subjective rapprochement with Romanticism will be presented. The second theme discussed in the article are some aspects of her literary-intellectual work on German Romanticism. Thirdly, the story of Huch, which was created under the influence of romantic ideals, will be discussed.

The following article attempts to characterize the letters of Ricarda Huch to Richard Huch from 1887-1897. The focus is on the idealization and domination of unconventional love as well as the characteristics of an individual suffering from unfulfilled love, seeking despite that to find herself in everyday life. The inner development of the author of the letters has been shown, overcoming her depressing reality thanks to her inner strength and the power of her intellect as well finding herself in the daily routines of life.

In 1899 Ricarda Huch (1864–1947) published the first part of the treatise on German Romanticism entitled Blütezeit der Romantik (The Flowering of Romanticism). The results of further studies on Romanticism were presented in the second volume from 1902 entitled Ausbreitung und Verfall der Romantik (Popularization and fall of Romanticism). Artykuł odnosi się do pytania o definicję ‚wymagającej‘ literatury niemieckojęzycznej, która powinna zostać zaliczona do kanonu kształcenia germanistycznego. Z tego założenia rodzi się kolejne pytanie odnośnie określenia kanonu literackiego: Czy takowy w dzisiejszej rzeczywistości uniwersyteckiego kształcenia filologicznego w ogóle występuje? Odpowiadając na te pytania uwzględnione zostaną wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w ramach seminariów literaturoznawczych i kulturoznawczych, przeprowadzonych w latach 2017–2020 oscylujących wokół wybranych tekstów Ricardy Huch, które zostały zaprezentowane lokalnej publiczności zainteresowanej kulturą i literaturą niemiecką.

The article presents Ricarda Huchs attitude towards the dictatorship of natio- nal socialism in Germany, from which the writer officially disbanded herself in 1933 by resigning from the membership of the Prussian Academy of Fine Arts and concluding at the same time that the Germanness in her opinion does not mean centralization of power, brutal methods and diffusion of people who think differently. This attitude is reflected in the autobiographical text of 1938, Friihling in der Schweiz [Spring in Switzerland] which refers to the experiences and observations of the writer during her stay in Switzerland in 1887-1896. Artykuł oscyluje wokół zagadnień związanych z recepcją dzieła Ricardy Huch w ujęciu współczesnej niemieckiej krytyki literackiej. W roku 2014 została upamiętniona 150. rocznica urodzin pisarki, doktora historii oraz filozofa konferencjami naukowymi, oficjalnymi uroczystościami oraz publikacjami naukowymi. W roku 2017 przypadła 70. rocznica śmierci pisarki. Również w 2018 roku podjęto inicjatywy wydawnicze upamiętniające Huch. Rodzi się zatem pytanie odnośnie współczesnej poczytności oraz znaczenia tematycznie zróżnicowanego oraz gatunkowo różnorodnego dzieła Ricardy Huch.

The above text constitutes an attempt of thinking over the topie of displacement to the centre of the apprehension of the natural Sciences and pushing the humanities down to the outskirts.
